Press Release
Christmas Comes Early for Area Childcare Centers

December 22, 2010, Dayton, Ohio - Thanks to a grant from IBM via United Way of the Greater Dayton Area, 4C for Children, and ReadySetSoar, eight (8) area child care centers have received IBM KidSmart computer stations.  The centers awarded these computers committed to continuing to help children in our community learn in the early years and to working toward a Star Rating on the Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) program.

The centers receiving the computers include: La Petite Academy in Englewood, Miamisburg Christian Learning Center in Miamisburg, Montessori School of Centerville, The Word Youth Center in Dayton, Young Dimensions Childcare Center in Dayton, and three (3) Miami Valley Child Development Centers in Dayton.  Step Up To Quality is Ohio's voluntary quality rating system for licensed child care programs. SUTQ recognizes early care and education programs that exceed quality benchmarks over and above Ohio's licensing standards.

IBM has donated over 30,000 of their Young Explorers — computers equipped with early-learning educational software and housed in colorful children’s desk furniture – to eligible child-care centers worldwide.
