Areas of Need

United Way is committed to ensuring that your dollars go towards addressing the Miami Valley's most critical health and human service priorities in an efficient and effective manner. Through a process that involves more than one hundred local volunteers, United Way directs funds to Partner Agency programs that have demonstrated success in one of three priority areas: Positive Youth Development, Financial Stability and Indepdendence, and Health and Well-Being.

Positive Youth Development

To succeed in school and in life, children need to start school ready to learn, and then they need encouraging role models and building blocks to help them get through to graduation.

United Way of the Greater Dayton Area is funding programs and working with partner agencies, schools, government, and other organizations to enhance early childhood developent and ensure children have the assets they need to become productive adults.
Financial Stability and Independence

Right here in our community, far too many families are walking a financial tightrope and barely getting by. Your local United Way is working to help these hard-working families turn that tightrope into solid ground by funding programs like credit counseling and job training along with providing outreach to dislocated workers, homeowners facing foreclosure, and families eligible for tax credits.

Health and Well-Being of Individuals and Our Community

The health of a person ... or a community ... has a major impact on the quality of life for us all.

From funding health-related programs to serving on a local coalition to address the needs of the uninsured ... from linking people to services to linking people to volunteer opportunities ... United Way improves the quality of life for our neighbors in need and builds a better community for us all.
